SASTRA PRATIBHA CONTEST
Sastra Pratibha Contest is an initiative of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organization under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT, an Institution under the Ministry of Education).
Sastra Pratibha Contest is a national program for popularizing science among school students of Grades V to XII, conceptualised to identify bright minds with a scientific aptitude from the student community. It’s the LARGEST SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH contest on the island.
The objectives of SPC are to:
Introduce the youth to the rich scientific heritage of India in the field of Science and Technology in order to kindle a flair within the students for Science and Technology and to take up the subject as a career.
To educate school children about India’s contributions, from traditional to modern, to the world of science and technology
Provide opportunities for students to realize their potential and nurture their talents.
Identify, appreciate and guide the students with special aptitude for Science and Technology.
Organize ‘Science Teachers’ orientation/ training Programs’ to familiarize them with the latest developments in science education.
The Sastra Pratibha Contest is conducted in 3 phases
A study material is made available to each participant. To build confidence of the students and to make the exam user friendly, mock tests will be conducted. The registered students will get notifications regarding availability of mock exams. On the specified date and time, the student can login in Exam App and take the mock test.
Similar to Mock test, the registered students will get notification regarding ELEMENTARY exam. On the specified date and time, the student can login in Exam App and take the test.
The students will be notified through email on their qualification to INTERMEDIATE level.
Upon receipt of email, the student has to pay a one time contest fee to appear for the next TWO levels.
This level evaluates the scientific analysis and logical thinking skills of the student, THERE IS NO SPECIFIC SYLLABUS FOR THIS LEVEL. This level is conducted online.
Like Elementary test, the registered students will get notification regarding INTERMEDIATE exam. On the specified date and time, the student can login in Exam App and take the test.
The students will be notified through email on their qualification to ADVANCE level
The ADVANCE Level of the contest is conducted OFFLINE.
The student will be evaluated based on below categories. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC SYLLABUS FOR THIS LEVEL.
1) Quiz & identification round,
2) Scientific reasoning test
3) Question & Answer (viva voce) round.
The student will be assessed on general knowledge, scientific aptitude & analytical skills.
• The aggregate scores of all levels will decide the Sastra Pratibhas of the year.
• Two top performers from each grade shall be selected as SASTRA PRATIBHA.
• Sastra Pratibhas shall be awarded with certificates and medals by Vijnana Bharati, India.
• Participants who score “A-GRADE” and above shall be awarded certificates.
The students are honored at Science Gala (award ceremony). It is normally scheduled to take place in the last quarter of year and is expected to be attended by a galaxy of luminaries from India in the field of Science and Technology and many prominent personalities on various fronts in Bahrain.
The Sastra Pratibhas are invited by Vijnana Bharati to visit Premium R&D institutes like ISRO, DRDO, BRAHMOS missiles center etc. They get several opportunities to interact with senior scientists of R&D institutions of India.
As per Vijnana Bharati guidelines, Students awarded with “Sastra Pratibha” title in one category, are not eligible to contest again in the same category. (eg. If a 5th Grade student has received the “Sastra Pratibha” title this year in Sub Junior category, are not eligible to contest for SPC in 6th and 7th grade in the coming years but can contest when he/she enters Junior Category i.e. the student can appear when he/she is in 8th Grade). This change has been brought to have maximum number of Sastra Pratibhas who can get the opportunity to visit Prestigious Research and Development Institutions in India.
