SIF Bahrain arranged a visit for the Sastra Pratibhas to Hyderabad this year. The three day visit was from 27th January 2016 till 29th January 2016. The journey started with a visit at the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN). The students got an opportunity to interact with the senior scientists and also visited the NIN Museum.
Post lunch, the Sastra Pratibhas visited the Indian Centre for Oceanic Information Services. The students got a rare opportunity of visiting the Tsunami Warning centre, Fishermen Information Centre and Satellite Ground station.
On the second day, the students visited several laboratories situated in the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) in Hyderabad. Afterwards, they visited the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology where they were briefed by the scientists about the new medicines being researched and developed to cure diseases like AIDS, Alzheimer’s, Tuberculosis and Cancer.
In the evening there was as exclusive interactive session for the Sastra Pratibhas at NIN. Dr.Longvah, Director of NIN along with Dr.Madhavan Nair, Dr.Bhanu Prakash, Dr.Dinesh and other research scientists answered the queries and interacted with the Sastra Pratibhas.
The main attraction of the journey for the students was the visit at Reseach Centre Imarat (RCI) under the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The RCI was formed by the famous Scientist and Ex-President of India, Late Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam. RCI is a famous Missile Technology Centre. The students were briefed about the different missiles, their simulations, programming etc. by the RCI Director Mr.Satheesh Reddy.
The journey concluded by visiting Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam’s house where he resided for over 14 years. The Hyderabad trip shall be cherished as an erudite and entertaining trip by the Sastra Pratibhas.
