About VVM
Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is an initiative of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), in collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), an institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India and the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. VVM is a national program for popularizing science among school students of grades VI to XI, conceptualized with the intent of identifying “ignited minds”, with a scientific aptitude.
About VVM-SPC
Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan–Sastra Pratibha Contest (VVM-SPC) is conducted in the GCC countries—Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. VVM collaborates with SIF Bahrain to conduct VVM-SPC which is the largest science talent contest in the GCC.
In order to prepare students for VVM-SPC, students are provided with study material and syllabus. To build confidence of the students and to make the exam user friendly, mock tests will be conducted.
The registered students will get notification on the availability of mock test. On the specified date and time, the student can login to the Exam App and take the test. The mock test is meant for the students to familiarize with the SAFE EXAM BROWSER, functioning of the application, become familiar with the format, structure and time constraints of the actual test.
The VVM-SPC is conducted in 3 phases, Elementary & Intermediate levels will be conducted online. The students have the options of attending the test on their mobile or Laptop/Desktop. For mobile phones the VVM Exam app must be installed to access the test. The application can be downloaded from the App Store or Play Store. For attending the test through Laptop/Desktop, the student can login to the VVM portal.
ELEMENTARY LEVEL
Similar to Mock test, the registered students will get notification to appear for ELEMENTARY Level. On the specified date and time, the student is required to login to the Exam App and take the test. Ensure to use the same mobile/laptop/desktop from which you have attempted the mock test in order to avoid re-installation of the safe exam browser.
The Syllabus exam pattern with evaluation criteria is given below:
Students will be notified through email about their qualification to INTERMEDIATE level.
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
This level evaluates the scientific analysis and logical thinking skills of the student, This level is conducted online.
Similar to Elementary Level, the registered students will get notification regarding INTERMEDIATE exam. On the specified date and time, the student can login to the Exam App and take the test.
Question Focus: Analytical, logical, application-based questions…
Subjects Covered: Indian Knowledge Systems, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
Questions based on provided Syllabus.
The students will be notified through email about their advancement to next level.
ADVANCE LEVEL (Science Camp)
ADVANCE Level will conducted as a Science Camp, Qualified students will be required to attend in person.
NO SPECIFIC SYLLABUS FOR THIS LEVEL, students will be evaluated based on:
• Quiz & identification round,
• Scientific reasoning test
• Question & Answer (viva voce) round
• General knowledge
• Scientific aptitude & analytical skills
SELECTION PROCEDURE
• Two top performers from each grade shall be selected as SASTRA PRATIBHA.
• Aggregate score of a student in all levels will decide the Sastra Pratibhas of the year.
RECOGNITION & REWARDS
1. Certificates & Medals:
o The Contest winner will receive Sastra Pratibha Trophy & certificate. o Advance level participants will receive Medal & certificate o All participating students will receive E-certificate.
2. India International Science Festival (IISF):
Contest Winners (Indian Citizens only) will have the opportunity to participate in India’s largest science festival held in India– the IISF.
3. VVM National Camp:
Contest Winners (Indian Citizens only) may attend the VVM National Camp at the National level in India. These students will be considered eligible for selection as National Level Winners titled “Himalayans”. A separate zone will be created for GCC countries to declare Zonal Level Winners. GCC students will be eligible to compete in both the GCC Zone, and the National Zone subject to VVM terms and conditions for international participation.
4. Internship Opportunities:
Winners (Indian Citizens only) may be chosen for internships at reputed Indian institutions such as IITs /other leading national research centers.
5. Sastrayaan Educational Trip:
Contest Winners (Indian Citizens only) will have the opportunity to visit premier Indian Research Institutions such as ISRO, CSIR labs, DRDO etc.
Note
Students awarded with “Sastra Pratibha” title in one category, are not eligible to contest again in the same category. (eg if a 6th Grade student has received “Sastra Pratibha” title this year in the Junior category, will not be eligible to contest for SPC in the Junior category. However, this student will be eligible to contest in the Senior category i.e. when the student reaches 9th grade. This change has been brought to have maximum number of Sastra Pratibhas who can get opportunity to visit Prestigious Research and Development Institutions in India.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility: Students of Grades 6 –11
Enrolment: Must be enrolled in a school in Bahrain.
Residency: Must hold valid CPR and reside in the Kingdom of Bahrain
